Charles Shultz Museum

As we headed towards San Jose from our last camping area we made a stop in Santa Rosa at the Charles Shultz Museum.  Baron really loves Snoopy and The Red Baron so we had to check it out.  The museum had activities for the boys to complete that helped them navigate the museum.  Also we took a look around at the ice arena next door that also honors Charles Shultz.   This was a fun stop for us all.

Russian River Camping

This was our last night of camping before arriving in San Jose.   We stayed in a small family camping area right on the Russian River near Santa Rosa.  We quickly got our tent set up so we could take a dip in the river.   It was a bit chilly.   The boys really enjoyed it.  We decided to go into the town of Guerneville for some dinner.   We really enjoyed out time here.

Elk Prairie Camping

Our first California campsite was at Elk Prairie in the Redwood National Forest.  Thankful no rain clouds in site.  Our stuff was still a bit damp but we set it up quickly so it would be dry by bedtime.  We also got here later than we wanted due to the ER visit for Andrew.   Baron quickly got a nice fire going and went to work on dinner.   In the morning we quickly worked together to get breakfast made and all our stuff packed up so we could head out for the next stop.  On our way out we got to see a beautiful group of Elk in the prairie.  We also snapped a photo of Daddy and the boys at the base of a huge redwood tree.

Do you see the Elk?

We have arrived

We had to stop and get a picture of this!  This will be the first time our family has lived in California.  Heidi is from California so is happy to be returning and to be sharing it with all her boys!

We just had to stop for Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox.  Joshua really wanted to get his picture taken with it but it was across the highway so this was the best we could do.

Battle Rock Wayside Park

As we drove from Oregon to California we spotted this stop.  It was super beautiful here.   Daddy took Joshua, Noah and Seth down to the beach area.  Andrew had gotten something in his eye so we went back to the car with Megan to wash it out.   Unfortunately this did not help Andrew so we made a pit stop in the next town for some lunch and a trip to the ER.  The ER doctor was great and got his eye all flushed out and found a pieces of sand stuck in it.   After this two stops we headed to California.

Honeyman State Park

As we journeyed towards our new home in Southern California we camped in various places.   Our first stop was the Oregon Coast at Honeyman State Park.  The Oregon Coast has a area full of super large sand dunes.  We lucked out that our campsite was so close to the dunes and a beautiful lake.   We all ran around the dunes and put our feet in the lake.  The lake was still pretty cold.  We saw lots of people riding sand boards which are kind of like snowboards for sand.  We had a great time playing here.  This campsite did have a draw back was that it rained from sun down to sun up and then some more while we tried to clean up our stuff to move to the next stop.   Things were a bit damp from all the rain.
